    Watching t.v. on monitor...
    « on: December 25, 2006, 07:47:36 PM »
I just got a new monitor for my computer (Acer LCD, anyone know if they are good? not that I can change it but I just wanna know if they give any problems or not). Anyway back to what I was saying.. I just got a new monitor and I remembered that a friend watches t.v. on his computer monitor and it's the same channels as he would have on a regular t.v. I don't think he pays anything extra or different, it's the same cable provider, he just watches on the comp monitor. My question is if this is possible and if so how do you go about doing it? Any help is appreciated...

    Merry X-mas everyone...

A TV Tuner card installed in a PCI slot would probably be the best solution; Hauppauge seems to be a brand with a good reputation; see Video Devices & TV Tuners > Hauppauge.

So basically there is no way of getting it for free? All the websites I've found say that you have to pay or buy special hardware..

Yep, you're going to have to buy hardware to make this work.
