My Laptop LCD is dark

Hello, I came home from a trip to find my laptop LCD monitor dark. I can still see my icons in the background and my comptuer functions but I have to take a flashlight to see them . I tried to turn my brightness up thnking that some how it was messed up when I left but it didnt work.

I did a system restore andthat didnt solve the problem either.

Did you also try contrast?
