Graphics card issue
« on: January 24, 2007, 01:36:03 AM »
Hi all just built my new tower and my HIS radeon x1650pro 256mb GDDR3 is over heating I think. It is lagging up in games and it becomes extremely hot. I have good fan flow in the case 80mm in 120mm out and the cpu averages 38c. When the card get super hot my desktop background is all granular and it goes away when the card cools down. I'm I screwed with this card since the heat sink/fan takes up one pci slot, do I have to install a pci fan too? Any thoughts would be great Thanks!

It sounds like a card problem for sure. Maybe an aftermarket cooler or a replacement (if that is an option). How old is the card and where did you get it?

The card is been in the tower for a week. I was wondering if I should remove the heatsink and but a pci cooler or leave the heatsink on and use the pci slot. This is annoying since it will only leave me with one pci slot. I got it from tiger direct

I would send it back  asap*  not worth holding if it already shows overheating -

Agreed. Tiger is good at returns but contact them pronto for an RMA.

It doesn't sound like a better cooling system on this end...
