Question about cpu
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:04:30 AM »
Hello
I was looking to get a dual core processer (Dual core 3800) but i'm not sure if i would just be wasting my money or not. Let me explain, i play alot of games like flight sims, first person shooters, ect. My graphics card is a geforce 7800 GT, 254 MB, but, im not sure if my single core Amd64 3500 is holding things back. What i am saying is will i see alot of difference if i purchase the dual core, and if so what can i hope to see.

Geforce 7800 GT
2 gig memory
cpu Amd64 3800
Motherboard MSI diamond pci

Buying a dual core will give you a big boost in normal applications, especially when multitasking, but not much on games as many aren't optimized for dual core CPUs yet.
The X2 3800+ is actually slower than your current Athlon 3500+, so your gaming performance will decrease.
What's your budget?
