Processor mysteriously changed name!
« on: October 12, 2004, 04:02:19 AM »
Hi everyone,

The other day I was on my comp and upon startup I noticed that my processor name has changed not once, but twice now! I'm rather confused as to how on earth this could happen! I'm running a Athlon 2600XP an at first it changed it's name to an AMD Duron processor and now it says it's an AMD Athlon 1150 processor. And that is deffo NOT the speed of the processor! It was deffo a 2600XP processor as I installed it myself and saw the writing on it saying that.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem??????????

Was the FSB altered in the BIOS?

I never changed it. Is the FSB the front side bus? Should I tinker with it and change it a touch? I don't know what the FSB in the BIOS was to begin with if I were to change it anyway!

Argh! What do I do???

Your Front Side Bus may have been altered due to your CMOS being reset.

I suggest that you scan for viruses, trojans and spyware first.
