Diminishing Available Memory

Hi,
When ever I start my computer I get the text "Memory write/reade failure at 1ffeob84, read 0000FE11 expecting FE11Fe11 Memory address line failure at 1ffE0000, read Fe11FE11 expecting 01010101 decrising available memory the amount of system memory has changed. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility." After striking F1 the screen just goes black. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Dell Inspiron 8600, and windows XP.

What happened prior to this? Is it still under warranty? It sounds like you have a defective RAM chip, or it is not correctly seated.
