HELP!!!

I have problem with my laptop. It is a Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173. It was originally Windows XP and the guy I bought it from changed it to windows 2000 Pro. The guy also has a Administrator password on it. The problem I have is that I can't install anything withouth signing in as the Administrator, but I don't have the password and neither those he. (he forgot). He also doesn't have the reformatting CD. Is there any way I can change the password without buying the CD's???

     There is something a bit odd about your story........ post 1 says you changed the O/S .... and post 2 says ...... the guy you bought it from changed it .........
    In any event, if the machine is password protected ....how was either the seller or you able to remove win XP and replace it with Win 2k without being able to access the machine ?
    Please let us know.

      it's because he / she was on here 2 days ago under a newbie  ( hehe)  and I'd be a betting

        No you guys understood me wrong!!! The guy I bought the laptop from changed the O/S to Win 2000 (he knew the password then...) but now he says that he don't know. Plz someone help me out.

        And i think the DVD rom doesn't work because of that, i'm not sure... can anyone help me with those 2 questions???

          If this is a laptop password, rather than a Windows password, you are probably SOL. Please clarify this.

          What do you mean laptop password?? It asks for an administrator password im assuming its windows.
