Destop icons are selected all the time

Using XP Pro.  the destop icons are selected all the time.
how to solve this please?

    to make them unselected, just normal clean appearance.

    Is this affecting the behavior of your desktop icons?  When you double click on one to open it, does it work and what happens with all the others, since they are "selected all the time"?

    Have you tried unlocking the web icons? To do this,

    R-click on your Desktop

    Point to "Arrange Icons By"

    Uncheck  "Lock Web Items on Desktop"

    I suspect Desktop settings / background images have changed...this would make them look all highlighted because of your color selections...

    Find a blank area of the desktop, right clik on it and select Properties...then choose "appearance" and check your settings.
