Where did i get this extra drive?
« on: October 22, 2004, 05:51:42 AM »
In the middle of the night, I was installing Alcohol 120%, (a burning software) and came upon a problem. I have something called a Virtual Cd-rom drive, and it is now my DVD-ROM, the thing is, I ONLY have one cd/dvd drive installed on my computer, it's an 'Optorite DVD+RW/-RW Drive. It has been working fine all this time until i recently installed Alcohol.

When I checked the the Device Manager, it comes up as another drive, If i uninstall it, it comes back after I restart the computer. It says it's a SCSI but the drive is installed thru IDE. What the *censored* is this? I don't like having things on my comp that just seem to have came outta nowhere...

Now when I look inside 'My Computer' what was once my DVD-RW (G: ) turned into a regular CD Driveand this new 'AVX SCSI DVD-ROM' made itself into a new drive letter (H: ) and labels itself as a DVD Drive.

Could anyone please help me with this?

Hmmm... well, i 'temporarily' solved this problem by just removing Alcohol 120%, I still wonder why that happened and if anyone could enlighten me on this, that'd be great :)

Number 1. reason viruses spread.

Not reading or doing research before installing software.

Alcahol 120% is capable of both copying software and emulating a Virtual Drive.
