    NTLDR is missing, please help!
    « on: May 09, 2007, 03:45:07 PM »
When starting the computer I am able to go into BIOS using the keyboard. I changed the first boot device to CD-ROM to reinstall the windows or at least to repair, but as soon as the Press Any Key to boot from CD appears I can't use the keyboard and it seems to be not working because the lights go out on it. I tried swtiching the keyboards and switched between USB and standard inputs but that doesn't help.

What should I do, how do I fix this?

        Please see the following:
        http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm

That was the first place I've looked into before registering here and it has no solutions or problems towards keyboard being disabled while there is a need to press the key.

When starting your computer, when the computer Splash screen, or a bunch of text appears, press the Delete key
See if you can find anything about enabling the USB keyboard in there
(but dont change anything else, but the keyboard)

I'll try that, but how is that any different since the keyboard works in the beginning when I go into BIOS using the delete key? If it works in the beginnig it should work after also but for some reason it turns off, if usb keyboard was disabled it wouldn't work in the first place.  ???

does it work in safe mode?

I can't even reach safe mode. It checks for primary/secondary parts, then its verifying something and says NTLDR is missing please press ctrl + alt + del to restart and even there what ever I press nothing has an effect, and ctrl + alt + del doesn't respond, so I have to use the power button on the computer to shut it down and power it back on.

I tried it while it was connected and when its disconnected also, I got the same result. I don't have another keyboard to try :(

You don't know anyone with a working PS2 keyboard you can borrow ? ?

It would take a while to get it, now most of the people have USB keyboards or wireless.
