Then I tried to update my bios for V266b
« on: November 10, 2004, 10:45:36 AM »
Dear folks,
The trouble started when I recently tried to use Magic BIOS to update BIOS for v266b jetway motherboard first.
Needless to say it resulted in computer not booting up (otherwise I would not be writing this).
When I turned the computer on screen was black.
I created a "bios update" disk from
http://www.jetway.com.tw .
When I inserted the floppy disk message comes up similar to this: "This is not system disk".
My computer runs win2000.
I tried using boot disks for win2000, same thing happens too.

You attempted to flash the BIOS but failed?

Have you tried reflashing?

If you have a jumper setting for 'restore BIOS to factory configuration' (NOT the one for 'clear CMOS settings), you can reload the factory ROM configuration into the BIOS and make another attempt to update the BIOS. Check your MB manual or the website for the MB.

Otherwise, you're going to have to have the MB reconfigured by a pro shop or replaced...

Many of these utilities specify a 'DOS boot floppy' on which the BIOS flash utilities are added. I find that a Win98SE boot disk stripped down to IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and COMMAND.COM, makes an ideal way to flash BIOS. Check out www.bootdisks.com

If this is reflashing, I will try it.
It sounds easy to change jumpers to correct things.

Thanks for your recommendation guys.
I will see if it works.

With reflashing I meant that you should see if you can still boot and flash the BIOS.
