    i think i have a keylogger....
    « on: August 16, 2007, 10:27:05 AM »
ummm i think i have a keylogger, ctfmon.exe isn't in windows 32, its in "dallas petersen" (my user account)

and if anyone has programs or a way i can find keyloggers or a good free virus software it would be greatly appreciated

and i'm curiouse if there is a way to check if a program has a keylogger before having it end up infecting your comp

( i just have a feeling i have a keylogger at the moment)

ok but isn't ctfmon.exe out of place?

and so is there a way to scan files before being infected by them when i download them?

like if i save a file instead of opening it emediately trap the virus inside it so i could scan it before the virus infects my comp (like that "open" "save" or "cancel" buttons when your about to download something

Try uploading your out of place ctfmon.exe to this site.
          http://www.virustotal.com/
It will scan it with a host of different AV programs. So if it's a infected file or a keylogger there's a good chance one of the program will detect it.

If you're looking for a  good free AV program try AVG. It comes highly recommend from this forum.

I don't exactly understand what you mean here. If you got a AV program installed, it will scan the file when you open it, warning you of any detected viruses.
