NTLDR MISSING
« on: August 28, 2007, 03:11:36 PM »
Today I attempted to start my PC but unfortunatly I was presented with the message:
"NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl Alt Del to Restart
"
I restarted my machine many times as still no change.
I then used another PC to go online and find a fix to my problem.
I did find an article from this site. Under the section "Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file" for the XP Users.
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm#b

I fallowed all of the steps except steps 4, 5, and 7 which I were unable to do.
In the Windows Repair Console i typed "copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\" and "copy "d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\".
And for both, I was given a reply, "This file could not be copied".
If the file could not be copied because I did no fallow steps 4 and 5, can someone please tell me how an I suppose to perform those steps.

Here are my system specs just incase. And I built it myself, and didn't buy it.
Mobo: Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3800+
OS: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
RAM: 2GBs Ultra PC3200
Video Card: XFX Geforce 6800 Xtreme

Thankyou for your time.

You are copying from the Windows XP bootable cd rom correct?  Your D: drive is the cd drive not a recovery drive?
