CDROM Help
« on: August 26, 2007, 08:14:54 PM »
I was burning some cds with achool 120 and my cdrom soon after that stoped working. I then decided to check to see if my cdrom was broken I took it out and tryed it in my other computer and it worked just fine but it just dosnt work on this one. I have tryed reinstalling windows checked the bios to make sure it was picking up the correct device and it was. I dont know this has got me stumped a little bit. I tryed pulling out all the ram and starting my computer then putting it all back in reseting the coms notheing works. any one have any ideas about what I can do to fix it. I have also tryed with 6 other cdroms with the same results.

Have you tried replacing the ribbon (?) cable ???

Yes I have changed out the ribbon cables but with the same results I managed to get my cdrom to work once after that. I reinstalled the driver for it and then it worked fine for one cd then it started doing the same thing over agin. So I ran a few scans looking for spyware rootkits and viruses. The only thing I have found was that the partition table has been altered.

How long was it in the other machine ? ?
Did you attempt to burn anything with it while it was in there ? ?
