parameter exceeded normal operating range
« on: August 27, 2007, 11:47:19 PM »
good evening to all;

dell dimension 3000, 512 ram, 2.4 cpu and a
30 g harddrive with removable tray.

i am not sure if i am on the right forum, but this is my problem.

when first booting i get this repeating itself four times;

"01/01/0: error allocating bar for PCI device". i then hit f1 and go on to installing w98. the install seems to be going well until i get this; "Notice: the primary IDE master harddrive SELF MONITORING SYSTEM has reported that a parameter has exceeded its normal operating range".

i tried f5 for safe mode and this showed.

"microsoft windows 98 and then this many times............A:\>@

i have used fdisk and formated and still get this.

i have looked in the forums before posting this.

thanks,

"Notice: the primary IDE master harddrive SELF MONITORING SYSTEM has reported that a parameter has exceeded its normal operating range".

This message shows a problem with your hard drive.  Run the hdd manufacturers diagnostic tool to test the drive, it might be repairable.

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.
