When I looked at the forum stats I noticed that CH had exactly 25000 members and Laptop_guy is the lucky one.
Well I just wanted to let you know and feel free to add some comment.

Computer Hope currently has 28+K members...

Out of these, how many are active?  How many are bots?

    Something else to consider:

    Most users ever online:  337
Of these, how many were actually search engines?

Just thought those stats should be looked at from all possible angles, don't you think?

If the number of bots stays releatively consistent which it normally does than the online user #'s are still relevant.

    I started as a bot...

    Point taken...

But still, out of those members, how many have actually posted?  We should look at the whole picture here.  Wouldn't you agree?

I mean, you see quite a few people saying this and that about the stats here, but to be fair, these stats ARE misleading.  Some register with the sole intent of spamming.  Some register, yet do not post.  Some register and quit.  Still some register and are banned.  Should I go on?

Also, most users online:  Bots and search engines are not considered users, yet they are actually inluded in "most users online".  This misleads others to think there were quite a few users online for that particular day, when the majority of those included in those stats may have been either bots, or search engines.

spambots and search engines surely affect the number of page/site hits to  computerhope.com and to the forum but that's a separate statistic from number of users online, i.e. logged onto the forum.  Search engines do not register on the forum and become a forum member.  There's no need for them to do that.  They can catalog forum discussions so that they will be found in searches, without going through registration.  And, I would bet the forum software is designed to detect attempted registrations by spambot and block them.

I am an administrator of a phpBB forum.  During the first year or so after launching that forum, we were getting numerous bot registrations everyday.  I then visited phpBB website and their forum and learned of a modification to the version of phpBB we were using that would block bot registrations.  I installed the modification and no longer had the problem of unwanted registrations.

ComputerHope deletes members who have no posts periodically, removing spambots and all that other etcetera stuff no one cares for, including valid members who just could never figure out how to use the forums.

So how long does one have to be inactive for his profile to get deleted?
