No Sound Upon Loading Joystick
« on: December 11, 2004, 08:15:43 AM »
Upon loading Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick a couple of weeks ago, the little yellow speaker appeared on my lower tool bar, and the computer lost all sound.  Since then I've explored devices, all the volume settings Win98 has to offer, etc, to no avail.  I'm using Win98, 2nd edition, and Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI sound card.  I've also explored Computer Hope's "no sound" topics w/o success.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Start > Run > dxdiag

    Look in sound. Any errors?

      ekim sent me this message:

"Dxdiag resulted in four sound tabs.  1.  Creative SBPCI Direct Sound Driver.  "The file SBPCI.VXD not digitally signed, i.e., hasn't been tested by Windows".  Upon pressing the Test Direct Sound Button: "Failure at step 19(user verification of software): HRESULT=0x00000000".
      2. Cirrus Logic Game Compatible Device - same sound test result as 1.
      3. Cirrus Logic Voice Modem Wave #00 Line - same sound test result as 1.
      4.  Cirrus Logic Voice Modem Wave #00 Handset - same sound test result as 1. "

Do you have any sound drivers? Try downloading them from here if you don't

        http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/companies/372.htm

        Also, try reinstalling direct x

        http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

If that doesn't work, the best thing to do is to send an email to Creative customer support.

Does sound work without the joystick?
