Problem when booting up and entering safe mode.
« on: November 03, 2007, 09:08:06 PM »
Hopefully this will all make since:

When i first turn my computer on everything goes fine... Shows the main black screen with all the white letters and crap and then when it finnaly shows that blue windows xp screen, my computer makes a beep noise and then just freezes at that screen. So then i came to the conclusion that maybe i could just re-start my computer, hit F8 and get into the safe mode/safe mode with networking menu and hit the arrow keys down to the last known good configuration option... so anyway, i hit F8 at start up, brings me to that menu and then BAM! i can't even go up or down with the arrow keys to pick my choice. It just freezes at that screen to...

any suggestions?

seems kind of a stupid/obvious thing, but is your keyboard plugged in?

As the machine has been in transport here's a few things to check...
      Remove a side panel /case.
Remove and re-seat the following components:
      Vid card
      RAM sticks
      Any other add-on cards

Double check all cable connections including IDE cables, power leads from the PSU to the MBoard, power leads to the front of the case etc.

Double check the CPU/heatsink hold downs.

While in there you could also do some general housekeeping with a can of compresed air. Use a QTip to hold fans in place while blasting so as not to damage them.

As always when working inside the case remove all power sources and take ESD precautions.

Power back up and see if this helps...
      Let us know.

yeah, i left to go buy some compressed hair but can't find it anywhere... i checked ACE hardware and also circuit city. I just moved to newport beach and can't think of any other places....  but once i get that canned air and sweep clean my computer, i'll go through and tighten down everything ... ide cables. ram, vid card, ect ect.
