mpg,avi,wmv

I have MS media player, and I checked to see if there was code and there is, but I often cannot see a mpg, avi, or wmv file from an internet site.  I am running windows XP.  Should I use a different media player or do I nees some other kind of codec?

yes, I can hear it but all that I see is the free form squigling design.  i read the business about codec on this site and it told me to check if I have a codec installed, and I do, but.... no video, only auidio

Did it specify what codec you needed?

You might try downloading the DivX codecs, if you haven't already. http://www.divx.com

No it didn't say.  Sometimes it says "codec not found".  Other times it doesn't say anything
