Graphics not showing in user accounts
« on: January 13, 2008, 06:19:29 PM »
I've just discovered that some images are not displayed in user accounts:

Anyone know how to fix this without a restore?

Is User Accounts the only area that has graphics missing? Does Windows Explorer or any other utility have this problem?

Hi Gizmo, yes as far as I can tell it's just those two windows with the problem.

      Try This

      Start > Run > regsvr32 nusrmgr.cpl
      Start > Run > regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
      Start > Run > regsvr32 jscript.dll
      Start > Run > regsvr32 vbscript.dll
      Start > Run > regsvr32 themeui.dll
      Start > Run > regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll
      Start > Run > regsvr32 wshom.ocx
      Start > Run > regsvr32 urlmon.dll

If that fails, you might also try:
      Clicking Start> Run
      and typing:

      sfc /scannow

Be sure to have your Windows XP disc ready for when it asks for it. This scans your system files and compares them with the ones on the disc. If the files are missing or corrupt, it will replace them with the originals. No data loss on your end will occur.

        Impressive CV Mr devil!  ;D

Sorry for the suspicion mate & welcome to the forums, looks like you will come in very handy!

Thanks for your advice so far, you also Zylstra cheers mate!

I'm currently formatting a DVD which will take 30 mins, should I wait until I finish before trying your recommendations (do they require restart etc?).

For system resource purposes, wait until you are done burning your DVD

        Afraid not...  :-[

        Try This

        Start > Run > regsvr32 nusrmgr.cpl
        Start > Run > regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
        Start > Run > regsvr32 jscript.dll
        Start > Run > regsvr32 vbscript.dll
        Start > Run > regsvr32 themeui.dll
        Start > Run > regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll
        Start > Run > regsvr32 wshom.ocx
        Start > Run > regsvr32 urlmon.dll

The second entry gave me this message:

mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered.

        (the rest were fine)

If that fails, you might also try:
        Clicking Start> Run
        and typing:

        sfc /scannow

This didn't repair it either... strange eh?  ???

I also tried repairing the icons using TweakUI (not even sure if they were icons now...)

Ok, so it was a lame bump... but what can you do  ::)

Worked like a charm mate! thank you very, very much for your time & effort... much appreciated.

One little snag, now my 'add to windows media player list' option has reappeared in my context menu for media files (I don't use it) I deleted the keys in the registry under:

          HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\audio + video
          HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\Directory.Audio + video

But they're still there. I searched the registry (ctrl+f) for the key but it came back with nothing  ???

          I've started a new topic:

Thanks again Dev, if you ever need a favour just PM me, got lots of time on my hands so if you need some help with something let me know... not sure what I can do for you but the offers there.

I'm a bit of an icons/graphics/video/music creator/DJ so I might be of some use to yu?

          All the best
