cleaning .tmp files, but finding .exe
« on: January 09, 2005, 02:56:22 PM »
I have windows 98 and it has been running very slowly.  I have completed all tasks suggested on this site, but am stuck... When I do a search to delete .tmp files, it comes up with many .exe files.  As I am a computer dummy, I am scared to delete them as I get the message that says deleting them may cause programs to no longer run.  What would you suggest? Thanks!

Run a disk cleanup by doing te following.... Click start -> accessories -> system tools -> disk cleanup .... It will probably give you the same message, but it will not do anything "bad" to your computer. When it gives you the pop-up box, make sure that ALL boxes are checked... Just do what it tells you to. This SHOULD solve your problem...
