CPU Fan
« on: February 26, 2008, 06:35:09 AM »
If I buy a 1200rpm 3-pin fan, will the motherboard automatically adjust the fan speed faster and slower based on CPU temperature, or do I have to buy a variable-speed fan.  This fan will be going on the heatsink of the CPU.  It will also be plugged into the CPU fan slot.

This is what the manual for my motherboard says:
The motherboard supports the AMD Cool ‘n’ Quiet Technology, which
monitors system operation and automatically adjusts CPU voltage and
frequency for a cool and quiet operating environment.

Asus M2N-X motherboard

The reason I ask is because I changed the stock heatsink and fan for a 120mm case fan on a 120mm heatsink.
