Need help setting up a microphone
« on: February 12, 2008, 07:26:13 PM »
Hey!

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum to post in, I just found this site 10 minutes ago.

Anyway, I need some help with a microphone problem. I recently reformatted my computer(due to a Trojan, never click fishy links, kids.) Anyhow, my microphone doesn't work anymore, i tried several other microphones and neither worked, so I'm assuming it must be my computer. It worked just fine before I reformatted.

Also, when I go to volume control, under balance it's faded out.

Thanks

PS try not to be too confusing I'm not very good with computers.  :o

I am totally new here, but I also have had the same problem. If it's XP, try going into the control panel -> sounds, speech, and audio devices -> sounds and audio devices -> go to the voice tab, and hit test hardware. Usually works for me.

Hmm, I got the following error when i tried to do that:

Your sound hardware cannot play sounds

Under the voice recording in the voice tab ''Advanced'' is faded out if that means anything. Could it be like you have to config and setup the microphone? If so, where could that be.

Re-install your MBoard/sound drivers...they are wiped out on a reformat.
