What version of Windows are you planing on installing on it?
The most recent versions of Windows can format the hard drive for you.

yeah its freeware but the site may contain other programs that are cracked etc.

the program in Question is fine but the entire website has a few links to 'shakey ground in the world of downloads'

Would a direct link to save the file be ok?

the program in Question is fine "FREEWARE"

If it is freeware it can probably be found on the Author's site instead of a warez site...

I have a feeling that the original poster, like many people it seems, thinks that "format" and "install Windows" mean the same thing. In which case, to do what you require, babeonahog03, you need a genuine Microsoft Windows install disk, which will first format your hard drive ( ie blank it and prepare it for use) and then install Windows on it.

You will need the compaq restore disks to resetup your machine. If you don't have them than you can get them off the web...
