no sound in sony vaio

hello new to forum. i have a sony vaio with no sound whatsoever !! i was reading a post by benyly. it said to download and run a EVEREST program and post it and someone would help. well i ran the program saved to text but dont know how to get it to where you can see it.. please help me help you help me.. or something like that thanks alot..    kenny

no errors in Device manager.. uninstalled drivers let xp reinstall. did not help. thanks

Windows default driver is probably not your best bet.
You can get your Yamaha audio driver here: http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=16463
To get it, you can either register for free, or click on a file to download, and on next screen "tick" Download this file by viewing a series of ads option

did the driver thing still no sound !! thanks anyway

Have you checked all the settings in Control Panel/Sounds and Multimedia ? ?
Make sure Mute is not turned on...

did all that first. computer says everything is working proper. still no sound. ill keep trying. thanks everybody

Did you uninstall old driver, before installing new one?
Did you try Windows Repair install?
