help!how to format diskette and reset it like new floppy
    « on: April 20, 2008, 09:26:51 PM »
i want to test the device booting sequence og my motherboard
    1. floppy
    2. HDD

so i insert non-bootable diskette and bootable HDD.
but system doesn't drop down to HDD booting
someone told me i need a new diskette to make it successful.
I try to format diskette under windows, and try format.com under DOS, both method can make my system drop tp HDD booting when there is a non-bootable diskette.
anybody here know tools that make diskette reset to new MBR diskette?

From my experience, it always tries to boot the floppy, then it yells at you that it isn't bootable and you have to take it out.

Yep that's my experience as well.
The tool you're looking for does not exist only_lonely, because new diskettes are formatted just like they would be if you used the formatting tools in DOS/Windows.

New diskettes do not contain a Master Boot Record. That wouldn't make any sense since different operating systems have different MBRs.
If what you want to create is in fact a diskette with a copy of the MBR on it, which can be used to boot Windows in cases where the MBR on your hard drive is corrupt, read this: (Guide is for XP)

so, could i say that the test procedure is invalid?
the bios did not allow to put a non-bootabl diskette ,and attempt to next device.

          That would be my conclusion.
