    Failed Media Player 11 install
    « on: June 23, 2008, 05:16:18 AM »
Another Media Player question. Installed a new HD. Installed XP Home, no problem. Tried installing Media Player 11. It wouldn't install, so i tried reverting to MP 10. It says MP 10 isn't compatible with 'this version of Windows'. My Windows update automatically installed service pack 3 and apparently MP 10 is not compatible with the new service pack. Tried installing MP11 again, and again. It takes literally hours to install and at the end it says MP 11 couldn't be installed because of an error. It gives me error code 80070001. When tried finding out what it is on the Microsoft website I  come up with nothing. Right now I'm using MP9 but I don't like the way it's laid out, so I'd really like MP10 or MP11. Anybody run into this, or maybe would have a clue? Thanks for any assistance. rowdy

PS. I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ CPU

    2 GB Ram,   EVGA K8 nForce3 250GB socket 754 MB,   500 GB Seagate HD

    GeForce 6200 Video card.

You are not the only one who got that error 80070001 when trying to install WMP 11. Unfortunately I have never seen this before and I couldn't find a solution online. You might want to try making a post about this in Microsoft's WMP newsgroup:
