1TB SATA USB DRIVE... Need Help!
    « on: June 26, 2008, 02:16:19 PM »
I have a Western Digital My Book World Edition WDG1NC10000N 1TB. This thing is a piece of crap! Does anyone know if I can open it up and convert it to a usb drive? Is it just a regular HD on the inside? It is just way too slow and you can only transfer 500mb at a time or it will lock up! You can read what others are saying about it here...

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Heres what I got with a search:

But I thought this would be the best out of the list:

In my experience the My Book software is garbage and is best avoided...
Did you install it originally ? ?

Yes, I did. Someone told me I would need to format it to get it to show a drive letter. I was trying to avoid that because I have a lot of data on it. Anyway I put it back together so I could back it up.
