Check all your connects to the DVD RW drive and motherboard, is this SATA or IDE?

Does this DVD RW show up in the bios? If the answer is "Yes," next question, does it also show up in device manager?

The main reason I ask this is to create a shortcut for my desktop. The dvd shows up in bios and in the device manager. How about just a way to create a shortcut? Thanks

Right click on the DVD drive and select create short cut.

Uninstall the DVD drive by right clicking the drive in device manager and pressing uninstall. Then reboot computer and it will reinstall your drive. Now go into my computer and see if the drive is there.

Ok just to start from scratch again:

          1. I replace my dvd drive.
          2. It does not show up on "my computer".
          3. I change the address jumper on back from master to slave.
          4. It still does not show up on "my computer".
          5. I call the manufactorer and they tell me to put it back on master.
          6. I do and the dvd works but still does not show up on my computer to be able to get a shortcut.

When I go into device manager which ide controller is it? Primary, secondary or dual control?
          Thanks

          Uninstall primary, and secondary.
          Restart computer.
          Windows will reinstall them.
