My mother gave me an hp pavilion 533w (Windows XP) for my daughter to use. She couldn't remember the password to reset the parental control settings for the internet.I reset the supervisor passwords, but it still wouldn't allow me to disable the controls. The guy at geek squad recommended I do a complete system recovery, which made the computer " out of the box" .Unfortunately, my Windows Explorer is badly outdated and I need to update it.My wireless adapter won't even work(needs a hot patch).I do not have Internet access to this computer , so I want to upload the files I need to fix it onto my Sony MICROVAULT 1GB flash drive. The prompt I get says that I need at least a Service Pack1, whatever that is, to open the hot patch I downloaded to my desktop.I tried to download Internet explorer 6 setup, but I was afraid to save it to my laptop, which has Vista software.I sent it to my flash drive , but when I opened it, I got a message saying it was not a valid win 32 application. Please help.
