    Think carefully about epoxy - the lid is meant to come apart in order to replace the LCD screen.

    Carbon Dudeoxide:  Thank you very much.  I checked the link and it Looks like nearly all HP dv9000 have the same problem.    . I will follow those directions and try to repair it myself when I get back home.  Right now I am about 1500 miles from home and handicaped with limited working space etc.  Thanks again for your help.  I will never again recommend a HP notebook to my friends.  Thank you also, Believer.  You guys are the greatest,  keep up the good work and know that you are apppreciated.  JIM
