Ad-aware= no internet
« on: March 04, 2005, 04:54:19 PM »
I downloaded Ad-aware onto my home computer. I cleaned it and everything. Now I can't get onto the internet. What happened?

Are you getting any error messages?

There are some hijacking items that once removed don't fix things back like they were before.

The computer just doesn't work similar to not having a line plugged in. And yes, I checked to make sure it is ;)

smalls102k7....Thats really odd .....Ad-Aware doent remove things required for your system to run......
Which operating system are you using . Did you run any other type of scanner before installing Ad-aware ......or manually delete anything ? What actual was going on with your pc ....prior to you installing Ad-Aware ? BTW was it Ad-Aware SE ?
What type of connection do you have ?
    Please let us know

I cleaned it and did everything in Ad-aware. That was the only scan I did that day and it stopped working once i restarted my computer.

First check net connection that the isp has not cut you off!..............type isp addy ...after ping command in msdos/cmd prompt.....check firewalls...check adsl modem/56  diagnostics...do you get a 961 error..or 404 error............and what o/s does this happen to! chck the events log..or net log..maybe another program you  have has  remove something...?last soulition last good config/or system restore...

To solve your problem...what operating system are you using.........windows? 95/98 etc..and what net connection......broadband/adsl modem.....speedtouch..or 56k modem via dial up...more info.............straight taking no jargon stuff here mate.. tell us more...on your system............ad-aware will not damage net connections.......have you scan for viruses as suggested......in one of the posts........its possible that a virus/worm/malware/spyware has damaged the winsock file...<link to net>?

you should recieve a packet reply.......packets sent lost etc.........are you networking this pc....have you checked the router.......and server......type net in the cmd prompt....plug modem dorect into the main phone line box.......to eliminate filter problem.or extentsion lead failure.......suggestions.?

Thanks for that site. I asked about 15 of my computer friends and they had no idea what was going on. I'll make sure I'll give you all the credit. Thanks to everyone else too.
