Stop Error caused by printing

Can any one tell me how to deal with a stop error when printing,  when we go to print the blue stop error screen comes up and freezes the computer. Operating system Windows XP Prefessional 512 MB DDR Ram.

I would start by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers.  I would also make sure they are up to date.

While it certainly could be many other things, this is as good a starting point as any.
