In an earlier post I commented that I had plugged the Saitek into my other computer and XP had it up and working in about 15 seconds, with no extra drivers.
I must not be getting my problem across very well. It is not just the Saitek, it's anything with drivers. My Sidewinder joystick, LZ cellphone, when the Fios guy tried to plug in his memory stick, etc., etc.. The only things that work that use drivers are the things that were already installed before something?
went wrong. And of course the new hard drive and both optical drives which, as you pointed out, don't need drivers, they work. But every time I reboot the computer, a bunch of "Found new Hardware" windows pop up and try to find drivers for: the new hard drive, the two optical drives, and seven other devices. But the drivers are never found and the next window pops up and says the hardware could not be installed because the software could not be found.
I guess I'm going to have to give in and just start over with a clean installation of the OS.
Thanks for trying to help.
