    Mother Board front Panel Connection
    « on: November 24, 2008, 01:53:19 AM »
    Hi,

I am having a p4 pc. And my mother board model No. is i845GV .
The problem is that yesterday when i was assembling my pc.
I was unable to connect the pc front panel connection.
That is (Power SW, Reset SW, Power Led, Hdd Led, Speaker and USB).
i Have taken this machine from another person. So i dont have a manual of this
mother board. And on mother board it is not written where to put which pin.
So please suggest me how should i connect it.
One of my friend told me to switch on the pc . And check it by shorting 2 pins.
so i didn't understand what he meant to say. how to do sorting on motherboard.

Please reply me so that i assemble it. Because i have done every thing . Only front panel connection is remaining.

    Regards,

    Anjeep

You need to get the exact manufacturer and model of the motherboard.
This is usually printed on it in quite large letters - a few common manufacturers would be Asus, Gigabyte, Abit.
Go to this manufacturer's support website and type in the model number, then find the manual for it.
There, you will be able to see the front panel connections.
What your friend is referring to is shorting the power button pins, which does the same as pressing the power button.  Useless in this case as you don't know which pins you would need to short, but a handy tip.

It's just literally using a screwdriver, or other metal object, to connect the two pins very briefly.
Just touch them, and it closes the circuit.
