    WebCam wont display
    « on: December 29, 2008, 08:20:00 PM »
I posted on past thread keeping to brevity but got blasted for this so here goes... ::)

System is home built ASUS M2N 1394 MOBO, 8500GT graphics card, 2DDR RAM, VISTA 32 Home Prem OS. ZA Firewall and AVG antivirus.

Was successfully running a V-Gear Messenger Pro webcam on COMPAC laptop with XP OS.

Later I ran install'n disk on new VISTA OS PC then connected webcam via USB and appeared OK. Have since ran update on Drivers (currently 2008 installed). Somewhere along the line the cam stopped displaying picture. Both V-Bee Application software (that came with the camera), and Skype, display a black screen. Have changed camera select on Skype viseo options from V-Gear to ggeneric and then back again. Have tried re-installing V-Gear and drivers but no go. LED on cam lights but no picture.  :(

Any help appreciated - and yes I did search the FAQ's and Forum database.

Are you sure you installed the Vista drivers ? ?
If so in Device manager remove the device...power down and unplug it.
Re-install the drivers and it will prompt you for when to plug the device in...

Thanks for that. I re-installed all the NVidia 8500 software using the technique that you suggested and I now have camera and sound - Thanks for your help.
