word 2000 TEMP files
« on: April 18, 2005, 05:01:00 AM »
Under C:Windows, I have a couple of thousand temp files for word.  They list as "fffeffd5_ {CEBC8 aca-f69f....}
The last several digits after fffef...are different.  Does anyone know what these are and can they be deleted?  When you click on them, you get a blank word page??? ???

With file names like you describe and the fact that they are in the Windows directory makes me suspect a system problem or an incomplete install. What tipped you off that the files belong to Word?  Anyway, you can hide these files from Word...make a new directory somewhere on your disk, then move (not copy) all these files to your new directory. If the OS and Word continue to operate as normal, you can delete all the files and the new directory after about a week. If a problem occurs, you can always move the files back.

Good luck.  8)
