« on: February 23, 2009, 04:54:37 PM »
I have 2 versions of XP on my laptop hard drive. How do I delete one without deleting both? :-[

    1.  Post the contents of your "%systemdrive%\boot.ini" file so we can see what's going on.

    2.  The boot.ini file is normally a "read-only", "hidden", "system" file but you can easily view the contents via the following steps (Do not "cut", "delete", or "modify" the contents):

        a.  Left click "Start" button.  Start menu should appear.

        b.  Right click "My Computer" on the right hand side of the menu.  A context menu should appear.

        c.  Left click the "Properties" item.  "System Properties" windows should appear.

        d.  Left click the "Advanced" tab to bring its view forward.

        e.  Left click the "Settings" button under the "Startup and Recovery" subsection toward the bottom third of the view.  The "Startup and Recovery" window will appear.

        f.  Left click the "Edit" button under the "System Startup" subsection located top third of the view.  Contents of "boot.ini" will display probably in a "notepad" window.
