windows explorer problem

Whenever i am on windows explorer for about a minute an alert comes up saying "explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to be closed."

and whatever i am doing is lost.

Have you scanned for viruses and Spyware? Also, have you tried installing any updates available on Windows Update?
