    "operating system not found"
    « on: April 20, 2009, 05:54:01 AM »
When my system reboots I get "operating system not found" My HP desktop Windows XP has been completely formatted. I also get a red box that reads "hard drive not found. Physically the hard drive is in. I need to know A- How to install operating system. B-How to install/fix hard drive. And C- How to Get computer to read all drives/create (C) drive. Have some idea's but I am not a professional and I am afraid to screw it up more than I already have. Could I get some professional advice on how to continue the proper way?

I thank you Patio, but I cannot even enter a CD into my computer because it says: "hard drive not found".

      Put the XP CD in...
      Power down.
Re-boot and Windows setup will start...
      It should detect the HDD

Does the hard drive show up in BIOS?

Make sure that it is plugged in. And if it's an IDE drive, make sure your jumper is in the right position. Make sure you are grounded before touching any internal components - static electricity can fry your motherboard!
