Everything disappeared
« on: April 28, 2009, 10:22:38 PM »
My dell laptop computer was  working fine last night.  I downloaded google apps and updates to picassa.  These hung up and never finished updating.  Tonight I was on outlook and it hung up so I rebooted.  When it came back up, everything is gone.  The only thing on my desktop is my computer, recycle bin, IE icon and the network icon.  All my programs are gone, I can't find anything.  When I go to add or remove programs they are listed, but if I click on one to repair, it says it has been removed.  I have rebooted and rebooted, I have tried to log in and log out, I cannot log in as guest, nothing seems to help.  What can I try. ???

Never argue with a stupid person, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

It sounds like you may be in safe mode?  In the corners of the screen, does it say "safe mode"? If so, restart, and see what happens from there. If not, try a system restore.
