converting files

I have transferred into my new xp pc works 4 files from my old w 98 SE pc and they won't open.  I have downloaded wp6rtf/exe which is supposed to convert  Works 4 for windows  and 6 ,7 and 9 into word documents. When I open Word and click File of Type only works 6 and 7 appear - not works 4 which is the one I want.  The works files do open, but with incorrrect formatting and multiiple pages. Can you help?
