External Harddrive unseen
« on: August 04, 2009, 04:39:02 PM »
OK.. for some reason, i am unable to see my External harddrive in the my computer thing, i see its light is on, but i still cant see it, i could before. could this have something to do with the poweroutage we had yesterday? I tried restarting my computer, still it isn't seen, i tried turning my computer completely off, still unseen.. could it be because its fried? [which i am deeply hoping isn't as it has a lot of my things inside of it.

could it just be the wires attaching it to the computer that's the problem, and and that the hardrive itself is fine?

I would try the manufactures web site to make sure that your HDD doesnt have an "Auto Install" if so you can try downloading/run it (the .exe) and see if the HDD shows up. Came across the same prob but on a XP might work for vista. Second I would try a new cable...

Right click My Computer and select Manage...then Disk Management...
How is it reported there ? ?
