Yeah, me again - custom build
« on: October 27, 2009, 03:31:45 PM »
Well, I've finally gotten the go ahead and the funds to let my imagination run wild.

I just have a few questions before purchasing...

1) How are the products I have listed below? Compatibility etc...
2) Do cables and connections come with the parts or do I need to buy them seperate?
3) Do I need an anti-static strap?

Processor:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition - Link
£142.20

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P AMD 790X - Link
£97.28

RAM:
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel - Link
£106.98

Graphics Card:
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024MB - Link
£110.99

HDD:
1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 - Link
£58.18

Disc Drive:
Samsung SH-S223B/BEBE - Link
£14.95

Case:
Antec Nine Hundred - Link
£79.91

PSU:
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent - Link
£76.99

Monitor:
23" Acer V233Hb LCD TFT Monitor (5ms, 40000:1, 1080p HD) - Link
£114.97

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, Single, - OEM - Link
£143.83

I still have to pick a speaker system, but that's not going to break the bank.

Thanks for any help. :D

1) Compatible...yes.
2) With that board and PSU all required cables should be provided...
3) Absolutely use an anti-static strap...

Quick and simple reply....thanks!

I'm going to start pricing locally tomorrow, but if I can't get anything I'll go ahead and order those parts. Two or three aren't in stock now unfortunately, but I'll hardly be waiting that long.

Thanks again.

Well the parts are ordered. I had to swap everything that I had planned to buy on Overclock.co.uk to Scan.co.uk because it turned out they don't ship to Ireland. So some of the parts are different but similar to the ones above.

Just one thing about the anti-static strap...

Do I need to buy a mat with it or will clipping it onto something like a radiator do?

I don't use the mats...clipping it to metal should be fine.
