hey i have a seagate ST3120026AS. I just looked at it in my storage manager ( brand new install of windows 7) and the manager tells me i have 4 simple volumes on this drive. I never set these up.

together, they are 20 GB of space of disk!!!

does anyone know why these partitions exist? are they manufactured in there?

If my drive History helps:
I have had this drive about 2 years, reinstalled XP 3 times, recently ran DBAN (zero the drive) and just installed windows 7 today.

Did you create new partitions possibly every time u reinstalled XP? I mean I guess it would make sense since u installed xp 3 times plus wndows 7 once...

Since it's a new install i'd re-boot to the Win7 DVD remove all partitions and do a clean install...
