new hard drive

i had to install a new hard drive on my hp pavilon 7920 how do i reinstall my windows operating system? when i start it up it says no operating system found. it originaly had windows me on it but i have a copy of windows xp i want to put back on it. please remember that this is a first time for me. thanks for any help offered.

First get into your bios by hitting Del or F2 or whatever when your computer starts up.
Then set the cdrom to be the 1st boot drive, save your changes & exit.
Then boot the computer with your XP disk in your cdrom and follow the onscreen directions.

Rather than change the BIOS settings I just use this OLDBIOS BOOTDISK

tryed going in bios and setting cd drive read first, save changes and exit, tryed booting from a boot disk neither one works, anyone got any other suggestions thanks
