Communication Not Available (Dell All-In-One Printer 926)
« on: March 03, 2010, 03:44:28 PM »
Hello. For a while now, I have been experiencing problems with my printer. On any random day, it will print fine. On other days, if I press print, it brings up a box that say "Communication Not Available." I feel like the problem could be with the USB ports in the back of my desktop PC. They have been acting up a lot for a long time now. So please, any help will be appreciated. Please don't automatically tell me to get a new printer or a new PC. I would like to explore all possible options before I buy anything. Thanks in advance!

    Tried different USB port?

Are you doing anything in particular when it doesnt work? Some program u could be running that could interrupt the printer?

I have tried several USB ports. I am not doing anything differently. Also, I would like to add that I have the printer set up on my home network, and when I print from a different computer on the network, it works every time.

Also, I tried printing a document about two days ago, and it just randomly printed when I started up my computer. Any suggestions?

What model is the printer? My Canon Pixima 620 doesn't like my laptop printing. Says Bi-directional support must be enabled which it is.

It then gives an error, not sure what as I'm on the bus on the way home, but even though it says it couldn't print and failed it still prints it.

Printer is a network printer over wireless.

I have a Dell All-In-One 926 printer. My printer doesn't like my desktop printing, but it seems to allow the laptop to print.

Did u have to install the printer through software that came with it or did u just go to Add Printer on both machines?

I installed the printer on the desktop (where all the problems are), then i just went to "Add Printer" and added it on the laptop.
