Computer constantly lags/freezes

Hi, my pc freezes/lags for 15-20 seconds every minute or so whenever media players, programs requiring flash or games are running and it recently started lagging all the time. I perform full system scan using malwarebytes, avg and trend micro housecall weekly but nothing shows up. I also defrag, delete temp files and disk cleanup on a regular basis. Pls help! Thank you in advance!

Do a clean boot and see if you have the same problem (msconfig - diagnostic startup - uncheck everything and reboot)

If you have the same problem with a clean boot it's probably hardware related. What are your hardware specs?

Also, did this just start happening or has it always been this way?

768 MB of Ram
Capacity: 24.4 GB..Used: 16 GB, Free: 8.31 GB

I didnt always have this problem, just like two months ago this started happening.

Do you remember if anything different happened just before the problem arose (new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)?

i removed a rootkit..and two trojans
