networking a laptop and desktop with wireless/wire
« on: July 13, 2005, 04:42:39 PM »
I have been trying for quite a while to network my laptop and desktop
together.  I have run the setup wizard on the desktop and my laptop and still
I get nothing.  When I navigate to My Network Places all i see is The
internet connection.  No other computers.  I try to selectview workgroup
computers and still nothing.  Both computers run WinXP.  I have a Westell
2200 DSL modem and a WGR614v5 wireless router.

**UPDATE** I just looked at my desktop and under My Network Places I can see both the desktop and Laptop.  I can access Desktop files as it is the one that I am on but not Laptop files.  Says I do not have permission.

You need to set permission levels for accounts on each computer,  but I do not quite recall where to do so.. If I remember, I will let you know. But do not hold you breath!

Router and Modem are fine.  Probably just one little setting that I am not changing.  I will look into the permission thing.
