printer not printing

I have windows vista with the dell 926 printer.
when I am trying to print everything works correctly except it never prints. I never have error messages. sometimes a week later when I log on the printer starts up and prints 1 or 2 items, then when I think it is working again it won't print.

Go to dell support site and download the printer software for your model. Then open printers in control panel and delete the printer. Then run the new dell printer software you downloaded.

or just download the driver and run Add Printer Wizard and point it to the driver you downloaded.

thanks for replying. When I tired to do that I am getting an error message ...application cannot be started. contact the application vendor

OK well Dell is the vendor, so you should contact them.
